Chris' Journey
Chris’ journey towards spiritual awakening began decades ago with experiences in his early teens. One of the first was his friendship with Michael. Michael was born with a heart condition that would limit his lifespan. Chris would say goodbye to his friend in his senior year of high school. Having a relationship with someone so young, who had to process and come to terms with their mortality, sparked a spiritual curiosity that would result in decades of seeking.
Around the same time Chris would choose to follow his faith and accept an invitation from his guitar teacher to join a band (a music ministry) that would perform in prisons, detention centers, inner-city coffee houses and on a few occasions, open for nationally touring artists. While doing so, he learned that connecting with people, sharing love and living as an example is equally if not more important as teaching spiritual concepts.
Later, Chris attended a theological college and would go on to hold various positions in churches. While he learned much during time in these positions, something that stood out were the times he was needed to hold space and offer encouragement for people who had unexpectedly lost loved ones. He would see people’s faith tested by these impactful events. He would see them wrestle with their attachments. All of this pushed him to dive even deeper into understanding the meaning of our temporary physical journey.
In 2015 Chris would experience his own impactful event when the physical journey of his son, who was 24 years old, came to its conclusion. Taking what he had already learned, he decided to navigate forward allowing his “whole self” to feel, experience and learn through this phase of the journey. Only a few days after his son’s memorial service, he was approached by a co-worker whose son was missing and she was fearing the worst. Despite being in the midst of his own situation, in this moment he realized his divine responsibility to share with others what he had learned over decades and what he would learn in the days ahead. The work that Chris does now is the fulfillment of this divine responsibility and purpose.
You will notice from the images on this page that Chris enjoys adventure. He likes practicing what he calls "Moving To Meditate". Through activity he quiets the mind by focusing on the trail ahead.
These photos also represent a "re-birth" or "reawakening" to that childlike sense of wonder that can be lost along the journey. Chris had just reached his 50's when he reconnected with his adventurous spirit. He lives as an example of "it's never too late".
Chris' Career Path
After spending several years working in ministry, Chris returned to use a skillset that he had developed in his late teens when he used money earned from his first job to buy a personal computer. With this being one of his hobbies, he became well versed in computer programming.
Chris would accept an entry level position at a hospital in Baltimore Maryland and would work his way up to a systems analyst position. He then accepted a position with a company that provided software and systems for housing assistance agencies. He traveled the country doing his own field research for software development. He felt blessed to support those who spent their days helping others. The software he helped to develop was utilized at housing agencies across the country.
One of his software accounts was in the "Land of Enchantment", New Mexico. On his first trip to Albuquerque, he felt a connection to the energy of the mountains and the high desert. On his next visit the following year, he brought his wife. She also felt the connection and they made it their mission to move 1,800 miles to New Mexico.
Two years later Chris would accept a technology management position in Albuquerque. Years later he would accept a position with the local public school district as the director of IT Core Services. There he led a team of over 30 people who oversaw the IT infrastructure for over 90K technology users in over 140 buildings.
Following the death of his son, he decided to pivot, take a leap of faith and join his wife in the mortgage industry. This would allow them to work together and to be more in control of their day-to-day lives. This gave them the flexibility to create financial success but to also create space to spend more time focusing on their spiritual journey.
While their career path continues, Chris and Tina have realized the sacred responsibility of sharing what they've learned along the way. Their desire is to focus the remainder of their temporary physical experience on helping others with whom they share this journey.
Chris continued performing musically in a variety of projects that included leading bands that would play everything from small to concert setting venues. Chris lead a house band for a casino resort and would also open for several national touring artists. Regardless of the venue or crowd size, Chris could see a sense of oneness in the space that was shared when music was performed. This inspired him to focus on providing song and sound as a modality of healing and enrichment.
